Joshua Sommer negotiates two new contracts with Wilbers Racing!

The 19 year old Joshua Sommer from Flensburg is rated a real talent who already showed his ability on different motorcycles and in different classes!  Some experts even claim him to become Valentino Rossi’s “successor”.  He was recently awarded a special resemblance to Mr. Rossi in an Italian restaurant in Nordhorn but this was exclusively due to his appearance!

However, we as Wilbers Racing are very happy that Joshua Sommer took Jesco Günthers place in IDM Supersport. Two contacts were negotiated, both for a 3 year time period including extension option.

Contract 1: An article of apprenticeship for Joshua as motorcycle mechanic so that his future career is secured. We firmly believe that training and education is the foundation of a successful future.

Contract 2: A three years contract as racing driver not only to enable us to continue racing with the Triumph Daytona 675 on a high level but also to accompany Joshua with our suspension products on his way to a first-class-rider.

This is indeed a long-term program for the team with the goal to better understand the Triumph during the season 2008; for Joshua to get to know the team and vehicle so to achieve a position between 5th and 8th in IDM Supersport 2009.  For 2010 we hope to seriously start claiming the IDM title and to also make an international impression with one or two wild-card starts!

Season 2011 will be a very important one for Joshua because during his exam at the chamber of handicrafts he’ll have to show which direction his professional career is going to go. Maybe until then his development as racing driver will have been become successful enough to start a professional international career after his exams.

We are convinced that with Joshua we not only entered into a contract with a nice young man but with someone clever enough to see that with 19 years it was about time to start apprenticeship. We are sure to take much pleasure in him!

Both contracts were sealed with a handshake between Benny Wilbers and Joshua Sommer on Wednesday in Nordhorn. Until the IDM run in Salzburg the contracts are prepared to be signed! Joshua is going to give his first performance in Salzburg together with his new team-colleague Dominik Vincon.

We are sure to have made the best decision concerning the “Günther” matter for all parties concerned, especially of course for our partners and also for the DMSB (parent association of German moto sport)!
